beliefs and truth

belief

noun

1) An acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.

Some of the major world events have been driven by beliefs. Beliefs are deeply personal. You can influence someone’s beliefs, but you can never force someone to believe something.

truth

noun

1) The quality or state of being true.

1.1) (also) That which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.

Truth is not personal. No wars have been fought for truth. Truth does not require belief. Truth just is. It exists even if no one believes it.

Our greatest challenge is to recognize how far our beliefs (plural) are from the truth (singular).
